British Auto Works Starts on a Mark II Spitfire

The early style Spitfires were some of the best looking sports cars ever built. They had great lines, the were very nimble, and, though a little under powered, they are fun to drive.
A customer has brought in his Mark II for restoration. He had started to restore his car over 12 years ago, but life seemed to get in the way of the project. The car is in very restore-able shape. The body had very little surface rust, and the chassis itself had experienced very few road miles.
Since the car was pretty well stripped down on delivery, we took a little time to get everything apart so it could head for paint. After making sure the bonnet and boot fit, and that the doors closed properly, we got it painted and ready to go back together. As you can see by the photo’s, our customer has decided to change the color from dark blue to black. Now it’s on to getting things put back together.
