British Auto Work’s Customers Attend The First Annual Vancouver Concours

Last weekend, several of our customers attended the first annual Vancouver, Washington Concours.   It was held on the ground of Fort Vancouver.  It was a beautiful setting, and it was very well attended.  Though not specifically a British Car Show, there was a very good representation of several British Marque’s.

The event had it’s issues, but everything went very well, and even though the weather was not the greatest, I think everybody had a lot of fun.

Two of our customers placed in the judged events, the TR 4 placed third and the MGA placed 2nd.

And, of course, there was the usual contingent from the PTOA.  These guys make every event they attend, fun to go to.  This is what owning a British car is all about, just having fun and enjoying them with other owners.

We are all looking forward to next year.

Enjoy the ride!

British Auto Works Continues with the “Coffee & Cars” Saturday Meetings

I had trouble believing that offering some coffee and donuts would be this popular.  Yet, since May, every Saturday we have been open, we have been doing the “Coffee and Cars” get together and the response has been great.

There’s no real event, we just let everybody know that on Saturday from 9 am to noon, we have the coffee pot on and we always have fresh donuts.  The idea is to just give you a small reason to drive your British Car out to the shop and spend a little time with other people who just enjoy British Cars.  The shop is open and you can walk around and see what new projects we are working on, and we can help you with any of your car needs.  Best of all, we have the coffee and donuts.  We do have hot water for tea and bottle water for the more discerning tastes.

We will be at the shop the next two Saturday’s.  Get the car out and come by and see us.  We’ve had as few as five cars and as many as twenty one.  You never know what you’ll see, but there’s always someone to visit with.

We look forward to seeing you.

Enjoy the ride!

Fun At The 2010 Autojumble

Congratulations are in order for the “Club T MG” car group for putting on another very successful Autojumble.  We got there early, and all three cars made it to the show without incident.  We took a ’74 MGB, a ’52 MGTD, and a ’80 MGB.  Stan had a trailer load of parts and we were there and set up by 7:00 am.  Yes that’s 7:00am  in the morning on Sunday.  Boy it was cold, it made it worse that I left the gas heater at the shop.  The crowds were pretty light at 8:00, but by 9:00 things were hopping.

Several other vendors were there.  What was great to see was that many people had boxed up there old unwanted parts and figured they could bring them in and find them a new home.

This is what this show is about.  None of us want to throw anything away, and if you can get a few bucks back in the kitty, all the better.  There were also several cars for sale, some at reasonable prices.  Most importantly there were a bunch of British Car Owners getting together for a day and just enjoying the company of friends.

I want to especially thank all of you who stopped by the booth.  It is always nice to see old friends.  All of us here at the shop want you to enjoy your car whether it’s an MG, Morris, Austin, Triumph or any other British Sports Car, we want to make it easy for you to own a piece of sports car history, and have fun doing it.  We hope all of you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

We hope to see you at our “Open House and Queen’s Rally” on May 8th.  Doors open at 9:00 am.

British Auto Works Will Attend This Year’s Autojumble

For the last I don’t know how many years, “Club T MG” has been gracious enough to sponsor a spring kick-off swap meet for British Car owners. It will be held this year on April 25th at the Montgomery Park Parking Garage. The address is 2701 NW Vaughn St. Portland, Or. 97229. It starts at 7:00 am for those who want to get a space to sell the stuff they have collected over the winter, or for those who want to sell their British car. The actual opening is at 8:00 am but since there is a bunch of people milling around at 7:00, whether you are buying or selling, you need to get there early to get the best buys.

The event is open to only British car stuff. There are no Alfa, VW, Ford, Chevy, or any other cars, just British cars. There are vendors selling new parts, and there are a bunch of people selling used parts. Most of the car clubs have a booth there to announce the events they are going to do over the summer. There will also be cars for sale. There are the nicely restored cars and there are the cars that need a lot of TLC. Get there early and enjoy the day. For the most part, the event is over by noon, and people are packing up to go home.

British Auto Works will have a booth there. We are taking in some cars for sale. Stan will have a bunch of new parts at special prices, these are really worth looking at. The other big deal is that it’s the kick-off day for Stan’s semi-annual 20% off sale. People have really started to look forward to this sale. If you are needing some “big ticket items”, this is the best time to buy. 20% is a real savings. Go to the website www.britishautoworks.com and check out the online newsletter for details.

See you at the Jumble !!
